Is my 9 year old sister getting her period?!

Question: Is my 9 year old sister getting her period?
OMG, I really don't want her to get her period! At least like 11 years old or something. My mother was a late bloomer, at getting boobs and her period, and I got my period at like the end of 4th grade. My sister has our father's genes, tall, skinny, light skin, and like him she has a high metabolism. At the beginning of this week everyday my sister has been getting these stains on her panties and it looks like dodo stains but it's not. So she thinks that she is getting her period. At first I thought she wasn't washing up right when taking her showers. When she wipes herself after using the bathroom she says that the toilet tissue is brown. Does this happen to you before you get your period? I really DON'T want her to get her period just because the pain you go through and she's very active and likes to play around and next thing she does something and she starts leaking in school. How embarrassing would that be?! What's going on with her? Thank you very much for every answer no matter how helpful or not your answer was :]

Take a few calming breaths =] Girls are all different, and there are some who hit puberty early on (my breasts started to develop when I was just 9 years old. I think I was the only one in my class wearing a bra!) Don't worry about the stains on her pants - it's common for there to be some discharge before a period, but when you're just hitting puberty it doesn't always mean a period will be coming. Try to coerce her in to wearing a panty-liner while the discharge lasts, and if she does get her period she'll need her sister there to keep her calm and support her. As for being sporty, it's important to stay active while on your period and since pads these days are pretty sturdy she shouldn't have a problem keeping active.
It's important that you don't press your worries on to her - she might get the impression that there's something wrong with her!
Hope this helped =]

Yes, she is probably about to start her period. Chill, she will be fine with the pains. I started my period about 2 weeks after my 9th birthday. She'll be fine. She will be careful and probably won't feel like be that actie on her period and will keep check to make sure she isn't leaking, yes that's embarrassing.

These are signs! The first few days before I got my period, I had brown stains on toilet paper, my underwear, ect. Then four days later, it came! I would be prepared because it could happen! I know this must be hard for the both of you so good luck and i hope it all goes well! i would definitely recommend talking to your mom about this if possible! Hope this helps :)

Personal Experience

Yes she is getting her period. Her body is getting used to it so its starting off brown.

Don't worry. I also received mine at 9 also. Its normal. Just assure her that this is normal and part of every girl life. Give her some pads and fresh clean underwear and tell her to wash her vagina.

It would also be nice if your mom could help so she'll feel comfortable with it. I'm sure your little sister with get the hang of it. :)

It's possible. When I was in the 4th grade, my friend got it. Ask the women on your dad's side of your family when they got their period. Try to be supportive of her.
Sometimes the day before I get my period, I do have brown discharge, so maybe.

yes she is, its okay you mom ( and maybe with your help) need to talk about it, or you can trick her into thinking a pad is something else lol idk y i just said that

Actually your mom needs to take this into hand and handle it. Not you.

When I got my period I had no symptoms at all! Everyone is different. She just might be getting it!
