I have a smallish bump on my labia and it itches really bad...?.?!

Question: I have a smallish bump on my labia and it itches really bad...?.?
I noticed it this morning when I was in the show and it started to itch...its a pretty small bump like a little smaller than a mosquito bite. I know it's not herpes I haven't ever had sex, and there is only one of them! Does anyone know what this is? Should I be worried! Will it go away?

Answers:

It might just be an ingrown hair, or some kind of "bed bug." If it gets worse or does not go away in a couple days, go see a doctor just in case. This is a very common symptom for a variety of things so its best to keep an eye on it!

FYI If you live near a Planned Parenthood clinic they will do private STI testing for you and might have a health plan that covers the cost for you.

A lot of women can get "pimple" type bumps on their labia..

Sometimes, a sebaceous gland can become clogged and become a little infected.
Use a soft cloth and run it under hot water and hold it over the bump.
This may sometimes bring it to a head like a pimple and you can gently drain it. (Don't squeeze it!!)
Wait until you see it form a yellow type head.

Also, you can apply a 1% hydrocortisone ointment (over the counter at any drugstore or supermarket)
And this can help with the itching.

I have had these types of pimples, my mom did and a lot of other women I know have had these pimples.
If you aren't getting any relief, then it might be wise to contact your doctor.
Sometimes, a bartholian gland (which are little glands next to the vagina which secrete lliquid to keep the vagina area moist.) can become infected and can cause some of the symptoms like soreness and itching
Keep an eye on it, but don't let it go on too long if it doesn't clear up in a few days or so..

sounds like a small boil. big ones can be a pain in the neck but small ones are easily taken care of - take plently of baths or showers and wash carefully with some soap and it'll go away. avoid any clothing that'll cause friction in that area and if you shave, switch to trimming. basically you've either had a small scrape in the skin which bacteria has got into and caused it, or a hair is ingrown from shaving.
