Getting blood drawn, just a simple question?!

Question: Getting blood drawn, just a simple question?
Ok..well of course im terrified of getting my blood drawn since it is my first time..but im not asking about ways to cope for this. All i want to know is if its possible that i can get blood drawn from the top of my wrist..instead of the inside of my elbow(im not sure why but i do not want a needle in that area) is there a pain difference between the two? Any difficulty with the wrist? If you have ever had both areas done for a blood test please tell me:) thank you!

There are a lot more nerves in your wrist then from your AC vein. The vein there is bigger and much easier to draw blood from. There is minimal pain, just a slight pinch then it's over. I hope this helps.

(EMT) I have drawn blood, and had my blood drawn.

They don't draw from there because the vein is too small for the most part. I haven't had blood drawn from there but I have had an IV inserted there in the wrist at the top by the thumb base and let me tell you, it hurts pretty bad. The inside of your arm is nothing.
My advice: do not look/watch when they do it. You will be OK. Breathe... :-)

It is actually very had and very painful from the wrist. I have not had it dome there before because no doctor will take it from that area.

Its either the inside of the elbow or the topside of the hand. you cant get away from the prickly feeling but dont worry it really isnt that bad
