In order to get a flat stomach you need to work off the fat. The best way to do this is through cardio (ab workouts make the abs stronger but will not get the fat off the abs). You also need to eat the right things. Eating things high in saturated fats and trans fats, will cause these to accumulate on the stomach (good fats tend to accumulate on the thighs and hips and not the stomach). You also need to relax. High amounts of stress cause increased levels on cortisol which can lead to fat accumulation on the stomach.
Exercise, exercise, exercise! Yep, sounds redundant but that and eating right is the sure thing.
Get some pals to walk with you 2 or 3 times a week around the block or a park. Too cold? Have a coffee klatch with some friends at the house and walk up and down the stairs and all around the house. Sit down, have a light snack, gab and start all over again.
Turn on the music and dance, dance, dance. There are exercise shows on TV. Challenge your friends to go through two shows a week with you and see how much you change over a month.

The easiest way I know that works is to try not to eat greasy food and to drink as much water as you can as often as you can, it cleanses you out and I'm pretty sure it helps your metabolism. Extra cardio would help too if youre disciplined.
