How do I ask my mom when she started her period?!

just ask "mom,when did you started to get your monthly gift"
if she doesn't understand what monthly gift means and say "what do you mean by monthly gift"
then say "i m talking about periods, when did you get yours"

and ask this when no guy is around and you both are alone

I am not sure if you are really close to her or not, but all you have to do, is ask. It is as simple as that. She has gotten it some point in time in her life as well, and asking her is perfectly fine! Piece of Advice: Just make sure she is in a good mood to talk about that! Good Luck!

Just like that. You could soften it by choosing a quiet, private time and saying 'Can I ask you something quite personal please, because I'm worried/curious about my menstrual things?' Just a thought, good luck! :)

you can go ahead and ask, but if you are too shy, you can write her a letter and slip it to her. i find that this is less embarrassing..
