I'm 14 and have a breast lump and i have to get a breast ultrasound?!?!

Question: I'm 14 and have a breast lump and i have to get a breast ultrasound?!?
I found a lump in my left breast under the nipple, on saturday it hurt when i found it. Then on sunday it hurt really bad even if i wasnt touching it. Today it hurts a little. So i just got back from my pediatrician. He said that it didn't see like anything harmful and that i shouldn't worry about it. But he wants me to go to a breast ultrasound? So why would he want me to get one if it didn't seem bad? And what happens at a breast ultrasound? And the bump does move by the way and its about 1.5cm. Please help!
thank you, im really worried i have breast cancer or something...is that possible at 14 years old?

Answers:

At 14, most girls have very dense breasts and can also feel "lumpy." Ultrasound will be able to tell more than mammogram because of the dense tissue, and because of that, ultrasounds are done on younger girls like you fairly frequently. Most likely, your doctor is just wanting to be sure there's nothing to worry about. The exam is very simple - you will be given a gown to change into and then the Sonographer will scan your left breast at the area of concern, she may have you point it out to her. It won't be painful or anything, and only lasts maybe 10 minutes. Don't worry now - it's probably nothing. :)

Don't worry and get yourself all worked up, try to be positive
It's more then likely a cyst, or a infection.
both of which can be cured!
the doctor just wants a sonogram to make sure!
It's a safe procedure and it doesn't hurt!
so stay calm and you will be fine! OK
I hope you feel better soon
