Is it normal in a pap smear?!

Question: Is it normal in a pap smear?
When i went today for my first pap smear he didnt put my feet in stirrups. I layed down and put my feet at the end of this table. He told me to keep my feet togtger and then he helped me put my knees to the sides- while my feet were still in the center. Is this normal way to do it cause i was really happy that he did that instead of making me go in stirrups - i felt ithat it helped me feel less exposed. I was also really nervous anf feeling sick and faint so it helped as well. But do they normally do this

Answers:

I am 22 and have had 4 pap smears in my lifetime. I have seen a different doctor for each pap smear and they performed it exactly the way you had yours :) as long as you are comfortable and he is able to perform the pap smear with ease, its all completely normal. It really does depend on the doctor :)

As long as he was able to visualize your cervix well, and get a proper swab, it doesn't matter how your feet were positioned.

I am a RN, BSN

No--God was with you dear, all the time you were there. I am glad all is well.

Depends on the doctor.
