Question about card board tampon?!

Question: Question about card board tampon?
This weekend, I spent the night at my friends house and I had my period. Well I forgot to bring my tampons (I use plastic) so I had to use hers. They were card board. Long story short, I felt like I lost my virginity after trying to use it. Like, the plunger wouldn't...plunge...
But my question is, if I'm ever in a situation where I need to use card board, how am I supposed to do it when it hurts so much?

Answers:

I've had my period for years and I still hate using cardboard. I can only use them on heavy days otherwise they hurt and i need to switch to plastic. If you need to use cardboard, try to use the smallest size they have and relax. It'll help a lot, otherwise its just something you have to get used to.

An applicator is an applicator, there really is no difference - it's a tube, that's it, there is no magical properties about plastic applicators that make them easier to use or that prevent pain during insertion - think about it! You probably just psyched yourself out, next time why don't you just remove the tampon from the applicator and insert it that way?

No one needs to use applicators, tampons are easier to insert without applicators, they are made purely for women who are uncomfortable about touching their genitals during menstruation, but they're your genitals and perfectly clean to touch. Plus no applicators means less waste...12,000+ tampons and plastic applicators from you alone filling up landfills is gross, at least cardboard degrades.

ive had my period for a year, and i just recently switched to plastic. I had been using cardboard. To me, it doesnt hurt, but ive heard of putting vaseline on the tip helps it slide in easier
