What you're talking about is more like "What medium do I use to WRITE my book." You can do whatever you want there, but I recommend a computer. It's much easier to fix errors, edit, tweak this or that, etc. Microsoft Word is a good, recommended program.

However, for actual PUBLISHING, allow me to copy and paste something I wrote in a question I answered a few weeks ago...

Your first step, Ms. First Time Author, is to go to Borders and buy the "Writer's Market 2011" book. It's a big, hefty, drop-it-on-your-foot-and-break-bones item. It's completely filled with publishing companies and their submission guidelines. It also has the names of literary agents, people who you hire to go to publishing companies and say, "This person's book is awesome and you should publish it because I'm an agent and it has my professional vote!" A lot of publishing companies won't even look at you if you don't have an agent to represent you, so go buy that book, find a literary agent who specializes in your book's genre, and try to get them on your side!

Mind you, literary agents are pretty expensive, so don't think you can just hand them a hundred dollars and be done with it, like a plumber or something. Be ready to pay if you want to get published, and also be ready for many, many publishers to reject your idea. It's standard that you get dumped, like, a dozen times before someone agrees to give you a shot.

This is all secondhand knowledge, FYI. I've never published a book, but I've been writing one, and I've looked into how it's all done. :)

I don't know how to get a book published but you could do what I do for writing it I write it on paper and then I type it into the computer. because when I'm at the computer trying to think about what to write nothing come's but then when I have a pace of paper and pen I think up about 4 or 5 pages.

Doesn't help much I know.

well definatly type it out of the computer, its easier to make changes and your less likely to loose it ect. i know that for the most part you send letters to publishing companys with a summery of your story, then if they're intrested you send the first couple chapters. or you could find an agent who would help you get it published, either way dont give up!!! and have fun writing your story :)

You can do it either way, a lot of us use a computer to write our stories. Something you need to keep in mind is that before even wanting to get published, write the thing. Getting too ahead of yourself will only hurt you in the long run.
