Girls: Do you wear Pantiliners every day?!

Question: Girls: Do you wear Pantiliners every day?
I ask because I feel like a slave of the, I can't stop wearing them.

Can you go out without them without worrying about vaginal fluids, smell...? I ask because I remember when I was a teenager(I'm now 27) I used to go out without them and I never smelled and had no or little transparent fluid.

Please help, are they almost necessary or not? What can I do to stop wearing them, I still want to feel free when I'm not on my period...

Thank you.

Answers:

Nope, I've never worn a pantiliner.

Wearing liners all the time is not really hygienic or healthy.
This is particularly true if you use commercial liners like Bodyform as they prevent air circulation so making the area moist and warm so perfect for bacteria and yeast to grow, such brands also contain various chemicals from manufacturing which can effect vaginal pH, cause irritation and that will cause odour - for example urea formaldehyde can cause bad odour. A vagina will only smell bad if it is unhealthy - liners cause odour, it's just as you change them every few hours you throw the odour away with them, without liners there's no odour to begin with.

Consider the cost to your wallet and environment too - how many liners you wear in a day, a month, a year, all the way to menopause - that will cost a LOT and they are all going to end-up in landfills where they won't degrade for decades or incinerated, manufacturing means major waste in trees for paper pulp, plastic production, and pollution from chemicals too.

Basically if you want to wean yourself off them so-to-speak try only wearing them on days when you know your discharge will be heaviest, and remind yourself that it's more hygienic to go without. Try using cloth brands like Lunapads, these will give you the protection, prevent odour than commercial liners cause so give you more confidence and as they feel little different to wearing just underwear they should help you get used to the sensation of going without liners. Another option is to use panties like Lunpanties where you can replace the crotch during the day if you need to, or take spare underwear with you just in case you feel uncomfortable during the day.

no. you can get a yeast infection, your thing needs to breath. And if you are wearing one for that reason, you need to deal with the issue. And always use cotton panties and thongs its the best for your vagina. Some materials can case infections. And wash yourself everyday if you feel that you have a strong smell do it morning and night using a soap free wash specified for your vagina.

I don't really wear them that much.
It's sort of a waste to spend all that money buying a panti-liner, and sometimes there might not even be a lot of discharge.
I for once, don't wear them that much. The discharge should come off when you wash them. Mines does. o.o
Once in a while I might be looking for something and spot a panti-liner on the floor. (Lol, don't ask how it got there :3)
It doesn't hurt you to stop wearing them, but if you like wearing them then go ahead. :)

I always wear them, I hate the thought of having a bleeding accident and ruining my underwear. But some days I feel the need to go without them because it just isn't very sexy to take of your underwear and have this mini pad sitting there doing nothing. On those days I just try to make more frequent bathroom visits to simply wipe my vagina clean.

I feel ya on that one. I wear them all the time too; I have to. I saw on a new commercial that it's bladder leakage or something. I always thought something was just wrong with me, but I guess it's common. Nice to know I'm not the only one though.

I don't wear any, if you want you can just wear your underwear and change them a coupe times a day. If you have a lot of discharge then you might have to wear them.

Not all the time but during ovulation and period YES.

I always wear them... I don't feel comfortable without them.
