VERY WEIRD REACTION TO PLAN B?!

Question: VERY WEIRD REACTION TO PLAN B?
ok so Ive taken plan b one time before last year and it worked fine. i think it didnt find any sperm (we didnt really have unprotected sex, i just gotscared) so i did NOT get my period the following week.

This time, i used it and got my period the week after. even though i already had it this month. Im guessing the pill found sperm and it made my body have my period to get rid of it? ( my guess )

so now im still spotting with a SHat load of cramps. it hurts alot. im in a lot of pain right now im taking midol at this moment to see if itll get better. but ive never felt this pain. its not even in my abdomen its on my vagina. like the front part? its weird but it hurts a lot can this JUST BE cramps?

Answers:

I had that happen to me before too. It makes you have another period. It is normal, you are fine.

Plan B caused your period. It also puts your cycle out of sync temporarily.

I think if you're going to be sexually active and use emergency contraception then it would be a good idea to understand how it works, you shouldn't be guessing at these things.

Plan B doesn't 'find sperm', it prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation or if you have already ovulated it prevents fertilisation by making your uterus inhospitable to the sperm so the sperm die off before they reach the egg. Because of it's effect on your hormones it will effect your menstrual cycle, change in hormones due to Plan B induced bleeding - presumingly this time you had ovulated. These hormones will also effect things like cramps the same way that hormonal imbalance will cause problems like cramps in most women.
