How old where you? Light, Heavy?!

I was 11 years old when I got my first period.

I've always been VERY heavy, starts off as light flow (blood not pink or brown discharge) then I'm too heavy even for the most absorbent tampons or pads, I use the highest capacity menstrual cup now.

It was after a PE lesson, our changing rooms were flooded so we had to change in the gym, I felt wet down below but it felt warmer than discharge so I suspected it was my period and changed with my back to the wall so no one could see my underwear. I checked in the toilets during break and popped some toilet paper in my underwear, then went to last lesson - spent the whole time desperate to tell my best friend. On the way home I waited till we were a little bit away from school and no one was around us then I told her I had my period. Very glad my older male cousin who had been living with us the past year had left to move into his own flat that morning.

When I got home I grabbed one of my mothers tampons, popped it in - obviously not recommended your first period, but I had no idea about tampon safety or other options back then, it never occurred to me to use a pad. I then went downstairs and asked her to get me some tampons and pads of my own from the shop. I went out to play with my friends in the street, unfortunately I hadn't inserted the tampon in far enough so it hurt and made me feel ill, I knew what was causing it but was too busy having fun to go change, once I did everything was fine.

I was 13. It started off really heavy. Like I didn't even have any spotting or anything to show signs I was going to start. Most people don't have it like that, but that's how mine was.

I got it when I was 14 after a week of an upset stomach. I only had tiny drops in my underwear and couldn't figure out what it was for a day or so.

I was 14. I was at a school play and it came heavy. It was between shows. I ran to the bathroom. My friend happened to be there, with a pad.

i was 15. it was really heavy and irregular for quite a few months, really bad cramps too. im almost 20 now and im still kinda irregular but its getting better.

I was 13 and 1/2! Nothing too exciting.
My first tampon was horrible!
It was dripping when I got out of the pool!

lucky fricken me i started when i was in 4th grade ya it was horrible. mine was light and it still is light
