It's completely normal to be scared! The first time you get your period, it may be heavier than what you would usually have it. Because your menstrual cycle has just began, it may take a few cycles for your body to become in routine with it. It's normal when you go to the toilet and brownish/reddish stuff appears on the paper - it's just your period. As you have never experienced it before, you may feel "icky" as you said, but just remember every woman goes through it! Change your pad regularly, every couple of hours probably as it's your first period. When you shower make sure you clean the area, but don't get scared when you see the blood - it's harmless. If you find you are getting cramps, take something like panadol or go lie down with a hot water bottle on your stomach.

Check out this website, it gives you more info on what to expect

Good luck! :)

Congratulates on your first period - it IS a good thing, don't be scared!

You need to relax first of all, the red and brown stuff is just menstrual flow, this is normal - menstrual flow is red, when it's lighter it can show as pink or brown...menstrual flow isn't bright blue you know, red and brown is what you should have expected, I'm sure you did expect that so trust your own instincts in knowing that this is in fact TOTALLY NORMAL!

Nothing icky about it, trust me when I say anything bad about periods can be avoided and it has a lot of positives, tell someone like your mom so she can get you more pads and do something to celebrate because this is an important day in your life...at least it's an excuse to get something good! I also recommend you learn a little more, try reading this article;

Yes, it's probably it... I'm fourteen too.. you should probably just talk to your mom or the sister you mentioned. You should know the basics... did you ever take health?
Well, if you didn't, just go to this site, it's REALLY helpful.

Yes it is supposed to happen; the blood is what your period is, and it's not all blood, there's other stuff in it too which is why it may not be completely red. If you feel icky, you could take Midol or even Tylenol. Don't worry, what you have sounds normal to me- you are not dying.

Your fine, this is completely normal!
Ps I'm NOT kidding, my name is Ellie Rose (yours is Ellie Rosie) I'm also 14, and I got my first period on friday!

Don't worry its totally normal. Its just blood from your period coming out of your vagina. Use pads and change them depending on flow. hope this helps :)

calm down, youre not gonna die..just put on a pad and forget about it. it's gonna happen every month till youre in your 40's or 50's..so get used to it. i dont even know what youre even scared about....and make sure you get one every month ..that shows that youre healthy...if you dont get a period every single month then youre irregular and you need to see a doctor...is your sister still alive?....she has periods...because you took a pad from her...meaning she uses pads for her periods and she's still alive....calm down how are you gonna die from a period if she hasn't died from bleeding? every woman in this world bleeds once a month and they dont die...im not dead and theres nothing to be scared about...bleeding usually last from 2 days to 2 weeks...first brown then red then back to brown then it's done... why would you ask if youre gonna die...it bothers me that you never asked your sister why she bleeds.
i recomend buying "Always Infinity" pads...it's the best one for periods and it's at walmart...use heavy flow type for extra protection...it protects you from light flows if you just bleed a little in a month...or heavy meaning a lot of blood comming out...and it's a thin pad and absorbs a lot...dont be like me that had to learn the hard way and got a heavy flow once at school and messed up my pants and had to call my mom to pick me up from school...save that embarrasement and get the always infinity pads. dont use tampons for they can cause infections and mess up the inside of your vagina.
