I am on the contraceptive patch, when am I not protected against pregnancy?!

Question: I am on the contraceptive patch, when am I not protected against pregnancy?
I recently went to my GP and got the contraceptive patch. You have to change the patch every week for 3 weeks, but on the last you do not wear one and you come on your period. Is it just the last week that I am not protected against pregnancy?

Thank you :) x

Answers:

You are protected all the time if you use it correctly. (dont forget to change it at the right time) just make sure you read the instructions/ask your doctor how long you have to use it before it gets in your system. (like with the pill you have to take it for a whole month before it starts working)

that is when you will get your period. you will have enough in your system that you will be protected during that time also. with oral contraceptives you should be on them for about 2 weeks before you are fully protected so i imagine it is the same with a patch.
