Advice on Endometriosis test?!

Question: Advice on Endometriosis test?
My doctor has finally agreed to send me for test to see if I have endometriosis! The thing is, he said they will do an internal scan first to see if they can see it from there, but most probably it wont show anything so i will need a laperoscopy. I dont get it, why waste money and time on a test that most probably wont show the problem! Has anyone had these tests done? What can I expect? And can I just tell them to skip straight to the laperoscopy instead? I'm in the uk btw

Answers:

I am exactly in the same situation like u, my GP first put me on the pill because unbelievable and unbearable period pain and symptoms like for Endometriosis, I had to stop the pills after 5 months because of the side effects, then she sent me for a scan, found nothing, then last week I had a Ginaecology Appointment and the gynecologist said I need a laparoscopy. They wont cut you before sending you to have a scan first, my GP made it clear to me, the GP won't even reffer you to a Ginaecologist before having a Scan. I live in UK as well, London, the NHS is free of charge, what are u worried about? u don't have to pay. In one month time I'll have the Laparoscopy. Don't worry, it'll be alright. I'm 30 years old.

It's always necessary to scan first. I had a tumour in my thyroid, and they had to scan first to check location etc.
No idea why they do it. Maybe to see if there is anything else thats going on.
Plus your in the UK which means free health care, so I wouldn't worry about anything. Better being safe than sorry!
