They need to hit puberty so that they start producing eggs and cervical mucus to help the sperm reach the egg - no egg and no cervical mucus means its impossible to get pregnant. Ovulation when the egg comes out happens before your period though...so like you could be going through puberty and ovulate, then a few weeks later is when you'd get your first period.

No they don't need to have a period but you do need to hit puberty. Hitting puberty and bleeding every month like normal are two completely different thing's. The only thing they have in common is that you generally start your periods after you hit puberty.
You have to have your period to get pregnant .

The whole point of the period is that your reproduction system is ready to go, I might not be right..but it doesent make sense at all for you to be able to have a baby even though your reproduction system isnt ready
