How do u misuse nuvaring?!

Question: How do u misuse nuvaring?
I just got prescribed.. im currently in my first month.. the doctor told me to put it in on the first day of my period.. take it out 3 weeks later at around the same time.. and put it in 7 days later also around the same time.. or since the reason im on it is being forgetful with pills she said an off label use some women find convenient is to leave it in all 4 weeks and then just change it.. at around the sane time.. and then u only have to remember it once a month instead of twice which prevents taking it out and forgetting to put it back in.
so the around the same time thing kinda makes sense bc that's how yr supposed to take birth control pills too.
And then there's the 3 hr rule which my doctor downed to 2 hrs.. which makes sense to me bc some people would prob try to stretch it out and end up having it out for too long..
I just really don't see how you could misuse this.. the package says the placement doesn't matter as long as it's in the vagina somewhere.. it says not to leave it out for more than 3 hrs during the 1st two weeks. Put it in on day one of ur period and ur protected.. the package didn't even mention the 'around the same time' thing my doctor did..
So what's 'typical use'? How does anyone misuse this? Maybe it's taking the time to take it out and readjust it and put it back in.. do thhose little minutes contribute to the 3 hr rule? Lol. In nuvaring trials 11 out of 18 that got pregnant on nuvaring were misuseing it.. how does this even happen?! Hahaha just wondering..

Answers:

Most of those women who became pregnant from misusing Nuvaring may have left it in for more than 4 weeks. Nuvaring works similarly to the Depo shot or and subdermal insert. It slowly releases the chemicals into your body to prevent pregnancy, after 4 weeks there are not as many chemicals left for the Nuvaring to deposit into your body therefore raising your risk of becoming pregnant.
Taking the Nuvaring out to place it back into your body does not apply to the "3 hour" rule. That rule only applies if the ring falls out of your vagina and is removed from your body for more than three hours.
