i started mine when i was 14, and i just noticed a bit when i came home from school.
TIPS
always take extra pads or tampons with you wherever you go!
wear a panty liner with a tampon incase you leak
start off with pads until you get used to your flow
mark on a calendar when you start and count 4 weeks from there to give you a general idea of when you should expect to have your next one
don't worry if you're late or miss one, that's normal
change it every 3-4 hours, depending on how heavy your flow is, but no more than 4 hours for tampons
wear dark jeans incase you do leak.

I got mine during summer I was at a beach with some friends. And we were playing in the sand and I was wearing a white bikini and one of my friends noticed and told me to go swim and she would go get some supplies for me because ur period stops when ur in the. Water and she came pack me and her walked away from are friends just out of eye sight and she gave me a pad and she told me it would be heavy at first she would help me more when we got back to the house so I sun. Taned and then we left for the house about an hour later after I had got my period and me and my Freind that was helping me were staying in the same room and she is my best freid. And she was just so helpful with the whole period sistuation

I hate my period. It's so heavy!! I got it when I was 13 RIGHT BEFORE WE LEFT FOR CHURCH on a Sunday morning. We ended up being late because my mom had to buy some pads :/ I hate periods so much. It's a living hell for me.

Tips:
Wear pads until you get used to your period. Try using tampons when you get to know your period better.
Wear dark jeans on your period just in case you leak.
ALWAYS bring more pads than you need. You never know what will happen that will cause you to need to change.
If you carry pads in a purse, always keept he purse wih you and don't let anyone look through it.
Change it at least every 3-4 hours (pad or tampon)
Bring an extra pair of underpants and pants wih you to school just I case you need to change. I needed to change when I leaked but I couldn't. Thank goodness I had a huge sweatshirt on....
Don't wear skin tight jeans. If you wear pads, it will be very tight and look weird.

Periods suck....(and commas rule).

well,when i was 11 years old, me and my mom just got back from the store and i had to go to the bathroom really bad. so when i happen to glance down at my underwear there was blood everywhere!!!
i almost freaked out LOL.
periods are normal and natural for every girl so dont be embarressed or ashamed because it happens to EVERY girl at some point.
when you feel confident enough you can change form wearing pads to tampons.if you ever post a question on that i will answer it :)
oh and the brown discharge you talked about earlier,that just means you have mabey a small cold in your system.or mabey you could get it when you first start bleeding.nothing to worry about.

Haha, anyways, so my first period was when I was just about 14 and a half. I was wondering when it was going to come...I was small for my age so I thought probably 15. I kind of knew it had to be close though. I went to the bathroom one day, and was just so shocked when I saw all the huge brown spots. And then I wiped blood! I was so freaked out, I guess I hadn't expected it to be like that! I don't know, I thought I would be excited when it came but after I wished I didn't have it!

some tips - wear two pairs of panties if you're going to wear pads...i know it sounds weird but it helps so that you dont get any blood on your inner thighs (not fun)

if you wear tampons dont leave them in for more than 4 hrs if you're heavy cuz then they tend to slide out and its very unfortable

i started when i was 10 (4th grade) on valentines day...i had no idea what it was so i was a little scared...i started it at school and the school nurse hated me so i couldnt go and ask her what it was...so all day i was stuck in bloody underwear...it sucked....im 14 now

Congrats! Don't ever think that you are dying. I had the worst cramps and kept it quiet but if I had only told my mother. Finally went to the doctor and got medicine to take because the cramping was so bad. So, that's the only thing you really have to worry about is not telling someone that you need help. Otherwise, take a couple of Tylenol and have a nice bath and go to bed! Oh, one more thing - never get caught without having some pads in your purse.

Anyways firs time i had my period i was at freakin SEAWORLD...THATS IN THE STATES......I LIVE IN CANADA! so yeah i had my first period with shamu.....nuff said
