I got my first period last August. I have skipped a month one before, but all my others have been early or on time.

I can't use a tampon on Tuesday for swimming if my period has not started before the lesson (3rd lesson.) But what if i come on during my lesson or when i am getting changed? that would be so embarrassing!!!!

Should i do the lesson if i haven't come on by then? Have i skipped this month like i did last October? My mum says that skipping a month is possible because i haven't had my period for very long.

Please help!!!! (this is a re-post)

If you haven't had sex, then your period is most likely just a bit late. I'm sure I have read that when you first start your periods they can be a bit irregular.

If they keep being very irregular (like if you notice it a lot over the next few months) then talk to your doctor. But one late one is nothing to worry about.

As for the swimming class. If you haven't started by then, just go swimming, no problems. If you have, you can probably get your parent to write a note to excuse you from the class (if you aren't comfortable using tampons, thats what I used to do, plus you get out of swimming class!). Don't worry about starting during the lesson or getting changed. I guess you know by now, but on the first day of your period it always starts very slowly...at least with most people, it's very light flow/barely anything. No-one is going to notice that if you do start during the class. There's not much you can do about it either. But I really doubt it would be noticable - just keep an eye out on the morning before the class.
