school trip on period help me!!?!

Question: School trip on period help me!!?
I'm really really looking forward to my school trip in two days its quite an outdoorsy active trip and we're rafting climbing camping and hiking up a mountain. One problem though my period (which was supposed to be two weeks ago hasn't yet made an appearance :/ I've only had them for a year so getting a dodgy one is pretty normal for me the thing is unless it starts before the trip it could start at any time on the trip :O I mean this trip involves hiking up a mountain and i've been there before there's no loo's. rafting might be a problem to as I've never tried tampons and I reallydon'tt want to and if i don't i cant get wet :@ I've also suffered with really really bad cramps (the kind you cant even stand up with) what do i do if i get those halfway though climbing or rafting! so this is what i need to know
Should i wear a pad everyday just in case it starts? (i actually would do that to avoid embarrassment)
When it does start what do i do about rafting hiking and all the other stuff
What about at night what if i leak because i have done before even with the maxi ones.
Should they have those special bins in our loo's? (i sure hope so :/)
What if i run out of pads?

urgg i'm worried please help me I'm really looking forward to this trip I just don't know what i'm going to do about this!!

Answers:

I've been in your situation before for year 6 camp. This is how i dealt with it >> Just in case i got it while in the middle of an activity i wore a light ultra thin pad just in case and i think you should do so too. We had to do a lot of water-sports in this too and i also hadn't tried tampons so it was awkward, so i just wore a pad, even though its going to sound like mega gross wear a pad as your flow gets like really light when your in water anyway. I know how you feel about the cramps! Take heat pads with you and when your just sat round or something put it under your top and not move so much (if you want it to be discrete wear a baggy top, that's what i did) and also take some painkillers with you, make sure your parent's know and approve and ask them how many you should take and when. If you want to avoid staining the sheets while your away wear a long maxi pad and put an old towel underneath you. Estimate how many pads you use a day on average and times it by the number of days your going to have an idea of how many pads to take. I'm sure they have the special bins though (well they should have).
Hope you have a good trip and hope i helped :)

Just experience :)

I would really really try tampons. That seems to be your last and only hope.

Good luck! This is a tough situation :|

you should go to doctor.

I can sympathise completely as its Murphys Law that your period will probably turn up just when you don't want it. I suggest you go to your GP (or practise Nurse) and see if there is anything you can do to delay your period starting. You don't say how old you are but I assume you are quite young if this is your first year and you are going on school trip, but you may be able to go on the pill for a short while (some of them stop periods).
