Ortho Evra patch help?!

Question: Ortho Evra patch help?
Hello. I have been on the patch for about a year and a half. Things have been going relatively smoothly so far, but I'm having a problem now. I needed to renew my prescription, but my doctor apparently was not in today, it being Friday, so he did not authorize it. I needed to change it today. Now I will go for at least 2 days with out the patch. I'm not worried about getting pregnant -- my boyfriend knows what's going on and we will abstain for however long we need to. My question is, once I finally get my prescription, how will the cycle be affected? Do I put on the patch immediately, leave it on for a week, and change it then? Or do I keep my normal change day? And will I safely be able to resume activities my boyfriend once I get on the new one, or do I need to wait for an entire week? Thanks in advance.

Answers:

Do you have a patch on now, or not? i'm guessing not if you needed to renew your prescription, if that is the case then when you do get the patch put it on, that will be your new patch change day, so change it after a week. and you'll have to wait seven days for it to become effective again. if you do have a patch on right now, then you have 48 extra hours, leave the one you have on on, then change it as soon as you get a new one. your patch change day will stay the same, and you do not need backup contraception. if it is more than 48 hours, then you will start a new 4 week cycle when you get your next prescription, and you will need backup contraception for a week. hope this helps :) if you are still confused then visit: http://www.orthoevra.com/question-about-…
