Am I using Levlen ED correctly?!
Question: Am I using Levlen ED correctly?
I started on Levlen two days ago. When the nurse gave it to me it was to control my period, because it comes unexpectedly. She told me that if I was using it for contraception I would have to wait until I got my period to start using it, but since I was only using it to control when my period came I could start whenever, so I started yesterday on the first day in the start here section. Today I became sexually active, I was not expecting it, we used a condom so I don't need to worry about pregnancy. I've been doing research and it says that you need to start taking Levlen when you get your period for it to work, I was wondering how long it's going to take for me until it begins to work?
Answers:
You will need to take it for a full month before it becomes effective as birth control, so keep using condoms. And maybe keep using condoms anyway in order to prevent STDs. It's just a good idea in general to use condoms. Because you didn't start it during your period, you may have some breakthrough bleeding during this month, but don't let it worry you--it's normal.
to regulate your period, it will most likely work straight away ie: you will get your period in 1 month, during the inactive week of pills
