Sorry to sound like a child that doesn't know anything, but I just wanna get this straight before it comes. I know how to insert it, but some comments i'm getting sounds like big plastic part stays in string hanging out. Others sound like only cotton part stays in with string hanging out. Which one? Cotton in and both plastic parts out, or plastic in with cotton and string hanging out. And I really appreciate answers. All the people on here save lives help out and give great advice. Without you guys I would have to ask my dad!

Cotton part only, and make sure you don't leave it in for any more than 8 hours, because the area around the tampax becomes warm and moist, a perfect breeding ground for bacteria, which can eventually lead to TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome)
Just the cotton part with string.
