I took my birth control pill about 2 hours late?!

Question: I took my birth control pill about 2 hours late?
I started taking the pill two days ago around 5 pm.
But yesterday I didn't have the pills with me so I ended up taking the pill around 6:30 pm.

I was just wondering if that is bad?

Answers:

It is best to take the same time everyday for best protection but, 1 time being an 1 1/2 hrs. late probably will not make a difference. For the future try to take the same time everyday.

Medicines do NOT turn ON and OFF like a light switch! An hour or two (maybe even longer) either way is just fine for MOST pills taken on a regular basis, such as daily. Read the instructions. In there, you will find a protocol for this as well as the "worst case", missing a full day. Since hours either way are insignificant compared to a whole day, if you want to change the time of day, you can easily wait an hour longer each day until the time of day is what you prefer. A former wife of mine did this with no problems, changing the time of day from early morning to late evening over two weeks by simply waiting a while longer each day.

There are instructions with the package. Refer to that.
