It's not for sex...
I get pretty heavy periods and bad cramps and back ache from them. So I heard that going on the pill with lighten my period and relieve cramps?
I don't want my parents to know cause I know my mum wouldn't belive me and would say no... We don't talk about stuff like this, we barely even talk and I can't talk to my dad so I just figured I wouldn't tell them. ;P

Yep! I'm on it myself, at 15. I didn't go on for the same reason you did, but it does make your period lighter. My periods are shorter and I don't get PMS anymore, which I used to have really badly! It might be worse for the first few months, because it takes a few months to settle down, but there's loads of different pills so you can easily switch to a different one.

If you go to your Doctors and explain, they'll prescribe you a 3 month course first and if you're fine on that, will start to give you 6 months worth.

They're not allowed to tell your parents without your consent. My Doctor asked me if my mum knew, and I said no and that I wasn't planning on telling her. They will encourage you to tell your parents though. Good luck!

Even though you've decided that not telling your parents is for the best, i still think you should tell them. The pills has many side effects and isn't something you should decide to take lightly. If you explain everything to them, your parents should understand and give you advice. They know alot more than you do, they're alot older and wiser. If you really feel you can't talk to them though, go to your local doctors, tell them you don't want your parents knowing so you'd like them to keep things confidential and tell them your problem. Good luck.

As for what you want to go on the pill for, i've never heard that the pill would help with this. Every girl suffers from period pains, it's just the way it is. There are other pills out there that specifically help with period pains, try using these instead. The pill is a form of contraception, not period relief.

Yes you can go on the pill at 14 without your parents knowing.

The brook clinic offers sexual health advice and contraception for free and they will not inform your parents. You can find a clinic near you at the link below:

I do agree with the other answers though. Being 14 your periods may get better with time and more manageable. The Pill can cause different side effects and give damaging long term effects it would be advisable to speak with your parents as hard as it may seem it might be worth it. I couldn't speak to my parents either when I was young. But looking back I wish I had plucked up the courage to speak to them as i now I know how much they could have helped.

i had the same issue when i was your age. i didnt think my parents would listen and i thought theyed overreact but i decided to talk to my mom. she completely understood and took me in to get them the next week. i suggest just taking your mom to the side and talking with her bout it. i know its hard but just try it. :p

personal experience

I'm not sure, but I think planned parenthood has birth control and I don't think they can tell your parents, but I'm not sure. Or maybe, call your doctor and ask if they can do that before giving your name. Hope this helps!

No- I am 14 too and in the commericals if you listen closely they tell you a warning that it might increase ur bleeding

you really should discuss this with your parents, let them know how much discomfort you are in

afraid not
