Tampons? GIRLS ONLY PLEASE!?!

Question: Tampons? GIRLS ONLY PLEASE!?
Hey people.
By the way, if this helps, I'm 13 and I'll be 14 in August.
Well I've had my period like 6 times now, and I can't stand pads. I feel like I'm wearing a diaper and I always feel the blood when it comes out (Sorry I know gross). I wanna try tampons, and my Mom won't let me. I have swimming at my school, and she got me some for that, but I'm only allowed to use them then. And I'm also a little nervous to try them for the first time.

Any tips on getting my Mom to budge about her "No Tampon Rule" and on inserting tampons??

Thanks for any help. :)

For the mom saying no tampon rule, I would talk to her about how they have slim fits for smaller teen girls that tend to be more comfortable especially for first time users. I would get the lowest absorbency and tell her you will change it very often, this will make you have a less chance of getting infections. At night still wear pads for now and shower in the morning. I don't know how heavy your period is or how long it lasts but maybe you can tell her you are scared that the pad will move and you will leak through your pants at school.

For inserting sit on the toilet with your legs spread apart or stand up with one leg on the toilet seat and use one hand to open your vulva (the skin covering your vagina) use the other hand to hold the applicator and your index finger to push the tampon into you, there should be no pain before or after putting it in. If there is then you might of not pushed in in far enough before releasing the tampon.

There is instructions that come in the tampon box that explain how to insert them, some have pictures. It also explains the importance of how often you should change them, possible infections, etc.

GOOD LUCK!!

Bleh, I hate tampons! The first time I put one in was painful. Then taking it out after it absorbed so much,........ouch. I only use tampons for swimming because of that reason. Just get more practice with your swimming class and talk to your mom again. Pads aren't the worst things in the world.

tell her that it makes u uncomfortable to wear pads around, but the down side of tampons is that they tend to leak even though u got ones that dont, as for putting them, try to do it on the package, but in the end u do whatever is comfortable for u.

maybe your mom thinks that wearing tampons is a sign of no longer being a virgin, or maybe she's scared that you'll get toxic shock syndrome from leaving it in for too long. try talking to her about why she has this rule.

i have the same probelm!besides that i dont have to go swimming. i talked to my mom, and she said i can try them and if i like it, i can use them. i suggest beinggirl.com. ive been on it soo many times. and so helpful

When inserting the tampon, I've found it helps to put one leg up on top of something, like the back of the toilet. To get your mom to judge on the no tampon rule, wait until you've used tampons a couple times for the swimming, then ask her why she won't let you use tampons for other things. Once you know her reasoning you'll be better able to refute it. But wait until you have experience with tampons or you won't have enough information to dispute her reasoning. And when you do talk to your mom about it, make sure you do so in a calm, rational manner, like a debate rather than an argument.
