What happens when you take a birth control pill when it says after?!

Question: What happens when you take a birth control pill when it says after?
My mom had given me a birth control pill (2 actually) to take because she thought me and my boyfriend weren't being safe. It turns out they weren't actually birth control pills. it was something i had to take AFTER i had sex. but it was only a day after she caught us doing it. But i had to wait a few days. Its a birth control pill that you only take in the mornings. My mom told me that after i take the first one, to take the second 12 hours after. And now my periods are possibly now messed up internally. My teacher said they're not birth control pills. Whatever they are messed me up real bad and now my periods make me to where I can't function properly in school or at home. My face goes very pale and i feel very penetrated in the legs. its almost like i'm paralyzed and can't do a thing. I can't get up, i can eat anything until my period is over. My teacher flipped out when I told her about the birth control pills i had taken in November right before thanksgiving day. Is this normal to happen or not because i'm having a hard believing what my teacher said herself...

Answers:

sounds like she gave you the morning after pill. The morning-after pill stops you from becoming pregnant, if contraception failed or wasn't used.
Although lots of people talk about the 'morning-after pill', this term is actually misleading. In reality, the most-commonly used pill works for up to 72 hours (three days) after sex.
But the earlier you take it, the better: the 'morning-after pill' works best if taken within 12 hours of unprotected sex.
the symptoms you have are not right, please go and see your doctor.
Your next period may come early or late. If it doesn't arrive within a couple of days of the expected time, see a doctor.
The morning-after pill does not protect you from pregnancy for the rest of your menstrual cycle. So either abstain from sex or use a barrier method like a condom.
