Girls only! Period problems...?!

Question: Girls only! Period problems...?
I've always had heavy flows so leakage isn't a surprise with super plus tampax. BUT, ust recently, I've been getting VERY heavy flows. Not even Ultra Absorbency tampax can protect it. I have to change it every 2 hours or less. It's terrible.

What's going on? Is it something I should be concerned about?

Answers:

I'm 14 and I started with a heavy flow as quite a few of my friends did. My dad is a surgeon and I asked him about if it was "OK" (I only live with my dad) and he told me that a heavy flow is ok the body is just doing the natural thing in regards to ovulation, My flow has calmed a little now but I do still have some months when I have a lot of leakages, I try to change my tampon ever 3 hours when I have a heavy flow and I also get sever cramps so my dad (he knows due to my bad mood the week before that I am due) and will give me a box of ibuprofen to ease the cramps. Everyone id different however if you have a heavy flow for more than 2 weeks then there is cause for concern and its important to see your doctor, don't worry though they have heard it all before :D x

You should see your OBGYN, if you have one. I had this problem and when I went to see mine she prescribed birth control to help keep my period flow under control. It can be dangerous if you're loosing too much blood, because this will cause you to become anemic. Anemia can turn into a major problem. I'd suggest seeing an OBGYN or your regular doctor.

How old are you? If you've only had it for a few years it might be irregular. But if you've been getting your period for a long time you should get it checked out, maybe you can go on birth control to help lighten it.

I would be concerned, are they painfull? If so go to your doctor x
