Why am I having debilitating cramps when I'm not on my period?!

Question: Why am I having debilitating cramps when I'm not on my period?
I am a female college student. Last night I began having sharp intense pain in my lower abdomen. It brought me to tears and I could barely walk because I felt lightheaded and dizzy. I layed in bed and sipped water and it eventually went away. Or so I thought, because when I woke up this morning, I went to use the restroom and the pain was there again but only when I pressed on my lower abdomen. So now I am trying to figure out what the cause is. I am not on my period, it ended over a week ago. I wasn't hungry, I had recently ate. And I went to the bathroom and it didn't alleviate it either. My boyfriend and I did have sex last night, but we have sex every night and it rarely causes me pain afterward. I looked it up online and I read that sometimes during ovulation a woman can get cramps similar to period cramps, and tomorrow just so happens to be my ovulation date. Could this be the reason? Does anyone know other reasons why I am having these intense cramps in my lower abdomen? Thanks

Answers:

It could be ovulation, it could be a hormonal problem, it could be an inflammatory problem, it could be a cyst... or although unlikely, could indicate something more serious. It could even be a digestive problem.

I definitely think you should see your doctor if you have recurring pain.

Good luck!

It could be similar to period cramps like the internet said, but it could also be something else. Maybe you sprained a muscle. I think you should wait several days and see if the pain subsides. If it doesn't, go and see a doctor.
