Menstration- ok, ive skipped my period.. for a year?!

Question: Menstration- ok, ive skipped my period.. for a year?
I first got my period just after I turned 15, now I'm 16 and I haven't received another one yet. I weigh 46kg and 164cm tall. I've done gymnastics, cheerleading, netball and/or trampolining all my life. I'm a virgin! Can anyone suggest why this is happening?

Answers:

this is nothing to freak out about, my period was also skipped a year,
your body needs antioxidants (green tea, pomegranate, blueberrey, )
you should eat healthy
everybody's body is different and you still have time to develop.

Because you have such a low body mass/weight, it is normal for you to have very irregular periods to no period at all. Your situation is called amenorrhea meaning someone who does not have a period. In order for you to have a menstrual cycle, you need a minimal amount of body fat. Since you do vast majority of sports, it is typical for you to have no period.

Overall, you can research more on your scenario, but the best is to ask your doctor.

Taken a biology human sexuality class.

see a doctor! i never got mine till i was 13 and then skipped for a year also. later my doctor diagnosed a cyst near my ovaries that wouldn't let me get a period. do not let time past for that age you should have a normal period it can affect you in the future when you try to have a baby. my doctor put me on birth control at the age of 15 and i was a virgin. I took the medicine so i could have a regular period which helped a lot and cleared the cyst

The body fat thing is ridiculous, don't listen to that. I got my period at 11, height 4 '11, and weighed 70 pounds. I got it every month to every 2 months. So whoever said body fat, that's not true. Unless you are anorexic/starving yourself, then yeah, that can delay.

But...exercising a lot can stress your body out, therefore it delays period.

You should go to the doctor so you can regulate it, because it probably won't act like a normal period if you do get it, it'll still be irregular, probably get it every few months.

I got my first period at 11 and that lasted 2days I didn't get my second one for 13months and then I got them for 7day then another 2months got them then they started coming ever 1month :) I took inner health plus and it made my period regular hope I helped

Well periods are irregular so there is nothing wrong with you especially if you're a virgin but if you want to regulate your period, speak to a doctor.

See a doctor, even doctors themselves who answer here won't be able to say for sure unless they conduct tests or check-ups.

see a doctor.. i got mine four months after i turned 11, and have only had 6 periods since and its been a year and two months since that. :P
