I just got my first period...?!

Question: I just got my first period...?
I was in school and I went to the bathroom. I realized I had just started my period and then I started crying. I really don't want my period and I feel like I'm too young to have it (12). I am also so embarrassed about it all. Has anyone else cried on their first? Also, who should I tell, I only have a dad and I don't want to tell him. I don't have close family either.
Thank you

First of all, congrats. It sucks but your a woman now (:

You are not too young, that is kinda old now most all my friends started at 10/11. I started at 13. DON'T BE EMBARRASSED. Society has glorified it a lot. It is as natural as getting potty trained or starting to wear deodorant, which you probably didn't find embarrassing.

If you don't want to tell your dad yet (which you will, or he will find out which is even worse) wear toilet paper in your crotch, or a sock. Tomorrow at school find a female you like and trust (teacher, counselor, nurse, friend) and quietly ask if they can help you out for the next few days. They will and it gives you time to think.

good luck (:

Apart from crying, how did you react? I know it may seem very uncomfortable, but if your father is the only person you have you should tell him. I also know that I can't force you to tell him. If anything talk to someone at your school. Perhaps a nurse (assuming your school has one) or a TRUST counselor, or just someone you feel very comfortable with.

I also began my period when I was twelve. That was about four years ago, I'm fifteen now, turning sixteen later this year. I didn't cry, but I did feel a bit uncomfortable. I have a sister that also got hers a year before me at only eleven. Getting it a twelve may seem young, but trust me, I've have friends who have gotten it at seven years old. Imagine how they felt.

Me, myself and I. :)
If you have any additional questions. Don't be shy. Ask me.

I can't remember how I felt when I first got mine, I know I didn't cry though, I guess in a way I would have been happy, it's a sign that everything is working fine down there.
I only had a dad too, a step dad actually and when i got mine I had to tell him, it wasn't that embarrasing, you need to tell someone and your dad will understand, he may not be a girl but he'd have to have a least a little knowledge of periods.
Otherwise, if you're dead set on not telling him, don't but you need to be able to provide yourself with the necessary items, pads, tampons. ect. If you can't then you have to tell him. It's not as bad as it sounds.

My period started when I was 12. This is completely normal. I was waiting for it to start so I was excited when it did. I know it can be a confusing time and you probably have a lot of questions. You should talk to your dad because he should know what is going on in your life. I know it may be a little uncomfortable but give it a shot. If he doesn't have all the answers for you ask him to recommend a female friend that you can talk to. Don't worry this is a good thing. You're stepping into womanhood! Best of luck sweetheart:)

i started mine when i was 9. i was actually excited. but it can be embarrassing.
i would tell a friend or a friends mom that you trust. if you don't have anyone like that i would find someone at a club that you go to or an older kid at school that you trust. if nobody along those lines are popping into your head then it would be best to tell a teacher or school nurse or instructor.

hope this helps.

worse case senerio tell your dad in a note or a text message. he was with your mom when she got pregnant which means he understands a womens body.

First off your not too young, some girls start as young as 7! Amazing right?!
And if you have a aunt or a best-friends mom you could just ask them to tell him.
My mom and dad are divorced and I live with my dad, I got my period (sorry if 2m info)
and I had my mom call my dad. And my dad was totally cool about it.

Me, Myself, And I.

Eventually your dad will have to find out because you need a way to get pads or tampon (him!) and i was 12 when i got mine. I didn't cry when i got mine but some people do. Tell a friend or a trusted teacher or nurse. Does one of your friends mom feel like a mom to you? You could tell her. Write it in a diary. But eventually you will have to tell him.
And Congratulations (:

First, second, 100th, 1000th, that is just normal.

You are going to have to tell your Dad. He needs to know. Do you have a school nurse? Is your teacher a woman? Do you have a next door neighbor lady? How about your best friends Mom?

congrats
