Am i not suppose to have sex on birthcontrol?!

Question: Am i not suppose to have sex on birthcontrol?
i am starting birth control the sunday after my next period. my question is the 4th week of pills are suppose to have no hormones in them so that you get your period.. so am i knot suppose to have sex? like if i don't get my period till the 3rd day of the 4th week, am i not suppose to have sex the other 2 days?

Answers:

Yes you can have sex on those non hormone pills. Birth control works by mainly by keeping your body from ovulating (releasing an egg). If there is no egg then the sperm has nothing to fertilize. It is true that you *could* ovulate during your period, but even without birth control that is highly unlikely.

So you can have sex whenever you want on birth control as long as you take your pill every single day. And if you want to have sex on your period then there is no reason you can't. Some people think it is gross, but as long as you and your partner don't mind it's not a big deal. But since there will be blood and if you are unsure if your partner has an STD there will be an increased chance of getting an STD so a condom should be worn. But if you are with someone you know and they (and you) don't have an STD then it is fine for your partner to not wear a condom. Just make sure you have a dark towel under you hips to minimize mess.

But if you still feel uncomfortable you can ask your partner to wear a condom no matter what time of the month it is. Nothing wrong with that.

Good luck!

You shouldn't have sex when you are off the hormone pills. Just because you bleed doesn't mean you won't ovulate during your 'off week'.

edit
Do NOT believe that percent. It's more like it's 70% because there are millions of women who get pregnant on the pill. My mother, best friend, and about 10 women I've met so far in school have gotten pregnant using birth control. If it was 99.7% effective then I should not know any of those women who got pregnant.

I got pregnant twice while on the pill and I used it correctly both times. I found out you are more likely to get pregnant on your no hormone week. Though the pill fails a ton of women so I would say you should use a condom as well.

you know how your birth control is 99.9999876543 effective having sex in that window can cause a pregnancy in that percentile....stay protected unless you plan on hitting the smasmorshon clinic

when taking it at the correct times you can have sex when ever you want. that's what it's for, right?
