Period cramps? My & Mums period?!

Question: Period cramps? My & Mums period?
Okay so here's my mums story...
When she first got her period it was one week before her 13th birthday, she was out of school for the whole week with terrible cramps and headaches and her periods never came on time.
MY Story
I got mine TWO weeks before my 13th and had the lightest stomach ever imagained that last bout half an hour (didn't realize it was my period as it looked like my discharge had just got a tiny bit of (gross) poo on it) and I have just finished 7th period (omg i only just worked that out I thought it was my 5th) and mine always comes 28 days after my period is over.

Is this normal?

My mum still has bad cramps, will I get bad ones?

Also when I got my period I think it threw my mums off not mine? Like hers is still a bit weird I think coz mine came, should mine be the one going weird??

Or am I just really lucky??

Thanks for your help :)

Answers:

Yes, your period coming 28 days after our last one is normal. That means your cycle is roughly 28 days. However, as you're young ad haven't started for long, your cycle could change and be a bit all over the place. You might also skip periods while your body settles into a routine, but this is nothing to worry about.

Your mum may have cramps, but this doesn't necessarily mean that you will have cramps, too ( but surely that's a good thing?! ) If you don't have cramps, trust me, you're lucky. My mum and sisters both suffer from really bad cramps and get all grouchy. So you don't want them :)

It is possible that you kind of mucked up your mum's schedule a bit. Apparently, when you're on your period, your hormones are emitted into the air, and, sometimes, your periods can become "synchronised" with women and girls your spend a lot of time with. I don't mean that you come off and on at exactly the same time, just that your cycles can be roughly the same.

Yes, you are lucky not getting cramps I believe. I haven't started my period, but like i said about my mum and sister, I don't think you want them. Just enjoy not getting them while you can to be honest, you might find you get them later on!

Good luck, hope i helped x

Women who live together eventually cycle together. Known fact. It is the pheromones produced that makes this occur.

Just because your mum got really bad cramps doesn't necessarily mean you will. I have always had seriously bad cramps since I first got my period. So did my mother. One of my sisters has bad cramps, one doesn't. My daughter has never had a single cramp ever.

Luck of the draw really. You are only half genetically your mother's child, you are also half your father's.

Well everyone has different experiences. So thisis normal. It may be possible for you to get bad cramps as you get older. If yourmuns were already irregular then it won't have made a difference but your bodies can smell a hormone released which if you spend a lot if time together can cause you to come at the same time. Your cycle could still go irregular but don't worry about it.
