Irregular vaginal bleeding? (gross-don't read if your squeamish)?!

Question: Irregular vaginal bleeding? (gross-don't read if your squeamish)?
Last night I had finished going to the bathroom and had finished wiping (wiping was not the cause) and all of the sudden (VERY sudden) I started bleeding vaginally. It lasted for about 30 sec.- I think it was about 2 Tb of blood. It wasn't like regular menstrual blood- it was bright red and thin- the way blood looks when you cut your finger. It hasn't happened again but I have bad cramps on my right side which started about an hour ago. I told my mom- she said we'd keep an eye on it cause she has a history (big history-lol) of ovarian cysts. If it helps- I'm 17 and have had my period for about 6-7 years. They have never been irregular. Lately my pre-menstrual symptoms have changed- the cramping is a little worst and my moods are ridiculous. Also, I have a yeast infection- I was going to take the pill for it today- I've only had it for a week. Also, I've never had sex, but I broke my hymen when I went to the gyno a couple months ago for a yeast infection pill.
Thanks for your help!

OK, it seems like the cramps get worst when I'm sitting. And yeah, I'm definitely keeping my mom updated- last time I didn't tell her about something it turned out to be a tumor on my femur- benign.

You would need to see the doctor for the exact answer but from what you say it sounds like an ovarian cyst that has burst and it wont do you any harm. Over the past few months my daughter who is 31 gets terrible cramps when she is ovulation and just before her periods are due, she had a scan done and they told her several cysts on her ovaries and to come back 6 weeks later, when she went for her second scan the cysts had gone. They told her this can happen on a regular basis until she starts the menopause. Good Luck
