If I talk to a psychiatrist, can anyone ever find out what i've said?!

Question: If I talk to a psychiatrist, can anyone ever find out what i've said?
I was thinking about visiting a psychiatrist, but is there any way that let's say in 10 years or something someone can find out what I've said? I have a job that requires mental and emotional stability, so I would just never want it taken away from me for what I've told a psychiatrist.

Thanks in advance,
Pink:)
God Bless

As stated by the others, you do sign a paper saying that the information is confidential. But there is a way that someone may be able to get their hands on your information. Like the fact (and I hope you would not do this) that you may get in some trouble by the law. They are legally able to get a court record and take out that information from say ten years ago. Or even there is the fact that you may be involved with the government which again they are able to get your information. Also once again there is a way that you may get into a higher up job and again they are able to get that information. Other than that your information is not able to get looked up unless by law.

Under HIPAA laws, it is private. The only exceptions are that your insurance company can know you've visited one, but not what was said; and the other is under a court order where everything can be revealed.

Unless you say something illegal (like that you are gonna kill someone) or you are suicidal they have to keep everything confidential

No! They can't and won't ever.
You sign a hippa(spelling) paper that states everything is confidential.
