Do you think my mirena (iud) might have slipped please read (TMI warning)?!

Question: Do you think my mirena (iud) might have slipped please read (TMI warning)?
I have had mirena for 6 months now and today (valentines lol) we got carried away and had really rough sex. He has caused bruiseing and slight bleeding from hitting my cervix before, and i felt him (and he felt himself) hit my cervix quite a few times in the heat of the moment. I have only had a light period lasting about 3 days and some spotting since i got it and it has always been really hard for me to feel my strings. tonight after sex i was cramping alot and started bleeding heaver than i have since i got it placed, i could also easily feel the strings,so im cramping and having like normal period bleeding which i dont feel is normal, it is 1 am i am going to call my gyno in the morning but does anyone have any info? Do you think it possibly slipped?

Answers:

I doubt it but you never know. The device is located high up inside your womb well away from your cervix. Even rough sex would not dislodge it. Usually if they move it is within the first month and because they are not inserted in the correct position to start of with. It could just be your womb lining had built up slightly over the months despite the Mirena and your having an intense orgasm has triggered this bleeding. Probably the strings were tucked up inside your cervix and have now dropped down slightly.

You are doing the right thing seeing your Gynaecologist for a check up. If having "rough sex" with your partner causes bleeding sometimes you should get that checked out, a penis is not hard enough to damage the surface of your cervix enough to make it bleed. Any bleeding would be coming from within your womb I imagine (again small amounts of uterine lining being shed).

I have a Mirena IUS
