Could it be endometriosis? What do you think?!

Question: Could it be endometriosis? What do you think?
I have really bad periods and my symptoms are:

-Heavy bleeding
-vomiting
-dizziness
-diarrhea
-fainting
-cold sweats
-fatigue (i can't even get up)
-severe depression
-AWFUL pain (i start to cry)
-blackouts
-back pain
-pain radiating to legs/thighs

My doctor just gives me painkillers to cover up the problem and refuses to perform any tests. I might go to another one but meanwhile what do you think? It's SOO bad that i would be on the floor, unconscious and crying, and always have to miss school. What do you think? Also, would this possibly affect fertility? Thank you!

FYI: I am 20 and a virgin (if that is in any way relevant?). Painkillers don't even help. I am so sick of this. I've been having these symptoms since i was 13 upto now. My family members also have terrible periods, although i am not sure if any of them are/were diagnosed with endo.

Oh honey, I feel so bad for you. I know how difficult it can be and I have been there. You have a very technical answer already however I couldn't pass by your question. From my experience the amount of pain and when you have pain can vary. I do have bouts where the pain is unbearable. Sometimes I have pain all of the time, sometimes I have pain on occasion and sometimes not at all. None of this is abnormal with endometriosis.

If you do have pain and think it might be endometriosis I advise you to be open and honest. START A JOURNAL and document your flow, pain, and symptoms. You need to be in tune with your own body and be ok with talking to your doctor about what you experience. Please take the time to find a good doctor who will be an ally in this journey. Endometriosis and dysmenorhea are not something you see a doctor for help with once and then go on your way. You may need to search to search for the right doctor for you and an individual treatment plan. Look for doctors in practices with experience treating endo. Do not be afraid to ditch a doctor who isn't listening to you or that won't even do hormonal tests, blood work, an ultrasound, and whatever else... You can find pain relief and a better quality of life with the right combination of medical support.

I would also suggest finding a really good therapist or support group. Having endo and pain is difficult and a lot of people do not understand what you are going through. Find someone who s there to support you in making your decisions and that can help you learn some coping skills. Do not be ashamed to search for the right combination of a primary care physician, gynecologist, therapist, endocronologist, ect. There are many options and treatment plans and each is unique for each individual. I have had 3 surgeries and during my last had a presecral neurectomy. It has changed my life.

This left untreated will lead to scaring of the ovaries, tubes, and uterus. It can cause bladder infections and other complications. You HAVE TO FIND A NEW GYNECOLOGIST.

Each person with endometriosis has a unique amount of pain. Find the right doctor and partner for you. Never be ashamed or afraid to seek treatment or to be in tune with your own body and it's needs.

Probally. You need to go see a GOOD doctor and get some tests ran.

I'm exactly the same! I feel so bad for you. I cry and scream and wish to die. I once fainted on my kitchen floor whilst trying to get to the painkillers and when I woke up I still didn't have energy to move until it stopped hurting so much (hours) and was throwing up and everything. My friends mum had to help me to bed. This has happened loads but I have found a way to avoid it sometimes (hot water bottles for my belly and back, take Ibuprofen/Nurofen the second I come on and take a big drink with them, then get straight to bed and get comfortable) and even then it only takes the edge off and stops me from fainting etc, but I still get terrible pains later on. Make sure to eat and drink as well. As to whether or not it's endimitriosis- it could be. It could also be an ovarian cyst (urgh). Your doctor should have tried you with birth control as it stops your period. I'm 17 and also a virgin and it could have something to do with it. I don't know if this makes sense but maybe because your hymen hasn't broken it's stopping the blood from getting released the way it should? Or the muscles haven't been used so they hurt more when you contract. I have large hips and sometimes I think its because they're wide? Or maybe because I'm skinny? It could be any reason. I'm going to my doctor next week about it and she said last time I should consider the pill and a scan on my abdomen. Good luck hope you aren't in pain for much longer!

I've interviewed hundreds of girls about their cramps and I'll tell you, you are one of the worst I've heard! Maybe about 5% of them had your type of menstrual pain!

To answer you, yes, it could well be endo! Some of your symptoms are normal for cramps, but some, not, and the severity of the pain suggests endo.

I think you should be looking for a different doctor to talk to about this. Do you have a regular doctor or a ob/gyn? I think the ob/gyn is who you should see.

One thng the girls I mentioned did say was the only thing that relieved their pain was ice. Putting an ice bag/ pack on their stomach was all that worked. If you have an ice bag you might try it, if not, you can put ice in a washcloth or baggie then on your stomach. Some girls used a bag of frozen vegetables such as peas, corn or lima beans.

Also birth control pills helped many, many girls but of course, you need to see the ob about those too.

So sorry you get so sick and I hope you find something to help...good luck!
