I need some advice.. Will this be okay? Tampons... Age 13. ?!

Question: I need some advice.. Will this be okay? Tampons... Age 13. ?
Okay so I'm 13 years old and I'm turning 14 in September .. I've never used a tampon and I'm really nervous too.. But I have to because I'm going to Florida and I'm going to be swimming... So will the "playtex gentle glide" "regular" ones work for me? And any advice? Thanks xoxo

I was a little younger than you when I first started using tampons and that exact brand and absorbancy remember to be patient and if it hurts the first time dont go off on tampons all together im going to be fifteen (virgin) in march and although I dont use tampons anymore (upgraded to a menstrual cup:) their better than pads and give a little more freedom :)

If it's your first time using a tampon, I do suggest a plastic applicator tampon. Playtex Gentle Glide are good, so are Tampax Pearl and Playtex Sport. If you're nervous about using a tampon, you could get the "slim" or "light" absorbency tampons, and just change them more often.

When using a tampon, you should change it every 3-6 hours, and you should use the smallest tampon that works for your flow (for example, able to keep it in for at least 3 hours with no leaks). It is safe to keep a tampon in for up to 8 hours, and honestly, I've left them in for much longer than that without any problem. It's safe to swim and sleep with tampons in. If you are going swimming when using a tampon, change the tampon right after you're done swimming.

http://www.beinggirl.com is a very good website (it's run by Tampax brand) that can answer a lot of your questions about tampons.

Buy the tampon that goes with the flow of your period. light-medium-heavy. Playtex failed me! Like my body rejected it, oversaturated the thing. I had to use Kotex type Tampons. Namebrand of the tampons. Theirs is thicker/longer/biggest tampons.

Go to websites to see about possible free samples:

www.ob.com
www.kotex.com
www.playtex.com

If above listings are wrong google for the websites of the namebrands.

You really have to try them out until you find the ones you like. I use o.b. because they're the only ones that work for me. I tried Playtex and they leaked within 10 minutes, but other people I know hate o.b. and love Playtex.

It really doesnt matter which brand you use, but because you're younger, i would suggest a smaller size. personally, i'm fond of tampax slender fit. Good luck :)

Just stay out of the water. Tampons steal your virginity......and so do I.
