Having a male doctor for pelvic exam, counselor is coming but can't come in!

Question: Having a male doctor for pelvic exam, counselor is coming but can't come in with me.......?
will there be a nurse their or someone who can hold my hand if I start to cry or shake?

Answers:

There should be, if the doctor has half a brain (to protect himself from lawsuits). If there isn't a female staff member present, ASK FOR ONE. It is absolutely your right. If they say no, leave, you don't want to receive care there. Besides, I can practically guarantee you are not the first woman to want another female present (I work in women's health). Why can't your counselor come in with you?

I believe it is against the law to not have a female nurse in the room if a male doctor is examining you. I've never been alone with a doctor while being examined. It's to protect you and the doctor.

Male doctors always have a female nurse in the room during pelvic exams to avoid lawsuit. Tell them ur very nervous and they should be easy with you

since it is a male nurse its law that a female nurse has to be in there with you. and yes they can hold your hand.

If your counselor is a woman--she can go in..see what I said on the other question regarding this subject.
