are some sex toys toxic?!

Question: Are some sex toys toxic?
Someone said sex toy can be toxic, is that true? How do you know what is toxic and what isn't?

Answers:

Yep, some sex toys can potentially be toxic. I just found this out and had to get rid of like 3 of mine! When I was researching what was good and bad, I came across this article that helped me decide what to replace my toxic one with - http://www.holisticwisdom.com/toxic-sex-…

Hope that helps!

Yes some sex toys contain Phthalates, which soften the rubbers and make sex toys have a soft cushy feel to them. Studies on rodents have revealed that when exposed to very large doses, phthalates can cause damage to the liver, lungs, kidneys, testes and can cause hormonal disruption. The best way to tell if the toy contains Phthalates is, If you take a toy out of the package and it has a strong "chemically smell," like a new shower curtain, it probably has phthalates in it.

Yes. It's true.

The Jelly toys contain Phthalates- which are toxic. An easy way to tell if your sex toys are dangerous are smelling them and touching them. If they have a smell, that you can't wash off, they aren't safe. If they feel greasy and you can't wash it off they aren't safe.

The safe materials for sex toys are hard plastic, titanium , steel, glass, pure sillicone, acrylic and ceramic.

If you aren't sure if your sex toys are safe find a reputable sex toy shop like The Smitten Kitten or Babeland and ask them. Always use a condom on sex toys you aren't sure about.

When you get a sex toy the best thing to do is read the labels and see who manufactures it. Sex toys are know for "chemical leaking" which basically means if it has a rubbery/overall smelly odor (before use lol) you shouldn't be using it. There are companies that use certain types of materials that are "safe".

There is a Number, can't remember where, but it determines which type of plastic or rubber it is and how bad it is for you. The higher the Number, the worse it is.

If you are worried, use a condom on the toy. Keeps it clean too.

Read the warning labels on the toys. TOXIC can mean many things.

It will say, "TOXIC."
