Always tired and lacking in energy?!

Question: Always tired and lacking in energy?
Recently I've noticed that I am constantly tired. It's not a normal, late night tired, but an exhaustion and I feel as if i have absolutely no energy whatsoever. I am an athlete and am very active, and I go to a very demanding school that pressures me to do well, and so I work very hard. I go to bed at a normal time but ironically sometimes have difficulty getting to sleep. I eat healthily and I don't drink or smoke at all. I just constantly feel absolutely exhausted and sometimes after sports I feel dizzy or have a headache. There is also a history of anaemia on both sides of my family, which could be it. Does anyone have any idea what the cause is??
Thanks =)

lack of iron - could be the cause.

When you pull your bottom eyelid down does the skin inside look pale or whitish, you could compare with someone else to see if theirs is redder, this shows a lack of iron,or anemia

Certainly some of the symptoms seem to fit with anaemia but it is difficult say. There are a number of causes of tiredness, are you eating properly? (especially important if you are an athlete) and you mention that you have trouble sleeping at night which would naturally make you tired during the daytime

Best thing to do if the symptoms persist would be to visit your GP and get their opinion

fatigue and dizziness could be problems from diabetes? Avoid sugar. Get tested.

One thing you might try, it sounds kinda dumb.
If you have a coke or coffee, do you then get jazzed up a little by the caffeine? If not, then something serious may be wrong, if the caffeine isn't boosting your energy.

But i know what you mean by exhaustion. Do you have any major stress that's really buggin you in your life? Anything you're trying to avoid? Your body can really work against you when there's something you need to deal with. From experience.

But low iron does sound pretty good chance. Because iron is what helps the oxygen to get attached to the red blood cells to carry it thru the body.

Also try a simple gatorade. Sometimes your electrolytes might be pretty low, and then you're feeling pretty messed up. But since you're in sports, I'd expect you to already deal with that.

How about if you just SLOW DOWN?? Doing too much? Try getting rid of most of your routine, and just stay home. Read. Keep tv turned off. Take a daily vacation where you do nothing. Read a favorite book. Listen to favorite music. Devote only to yourself. do it for a week or two. Unclog all the emotional and physical stuff from your life. It's basically a do-it-yourself vacation. Get away from your routine so you can get recharged. but do not do lots of stuff. The idea is to let your body and your mind relax thru inactivity. Even consider a very good massage. that does wonders to recharge your mental, let alone physical.
