What will they do at the Gynecologist?!

Question: What will they do at the Gynecologist?
I'm going for the first time tomorrow and I just want to know what to expect. Will they check down there, take blood, what kind of questions will they ask, etc.
If it makes a difference I'm 16, not sexually active, and I'm just going for severe menstrual pains.
O and kinda awkward question, but do most people shave around there before they get checked out? Do you think they'll even look because I'm not active. Thanks :)

If you're not sexually active, i dont think your doctor will check you down there. He/she will most likely take your blood, get you to pee in a little cup, maybe ask you to keep record of your period. I don't know what else, i've never been to a gynecologist myself.

If you aren’t having a problem and you just want birth control, then you may not need to get undressed for an exam. When you call to make the appointment, feel free to ask your doctor or nurse if you will need a pelvic exam or Pap test, both of which would require you to get undressed.

If you’ve been having sex with a male partner for at least three year, you are having a medical problem or your doctor recommends an exam, then you will probably go through most, if not all, of the following steps:

First, you’ll be asked to fill out a medical history form. Then, a clinician will talk to you privately about your sexual history. The questions get pretty personal, but it’s really important to answer each one completely and honestly. That’s the only way your health care provider can give you the information and services you need.

And don’t worry about revealing the intimate details of your life. Your medical records and history are usually confidential, meaning your health care provider won’t tell anyone, like your parents. Once again, it’s really important to be honest. It will help your gynecologist offer you the best care.

In Canada, we do not go to a Gynaecologist for regular exams. A regular Family Physician's always does "pap tests". According to my link, you should start having pap smears when you are 18 or become sexually active.

Since you are addressing the problem of severe menstrual pains then I can only assume the doctor will do an internal exam with his/her gloved fingers. It's a little humiliating but necessary. It may feel a little uncomfortable but nothing to worry about. No, you don't need to shave. I would recommend showering and cleaning down there the same day.

yes they will look because when you are 16 is when you are supposed to start getting checked. usually they use a tool to open your vagina up and they swab around and make sure that everything is developing properly. they will ask you about your sex life and they might put you on birthcontrol. i usually shave first but honestly its not going to matter to them they are just down there to make sure everything is ok.
hope this helps :)

I think you should shave a little, but be careful.
Also cross your fingers and hope the gyno isn't a guy.
I went to the gynecologist before when I was 5 because I had yeast infection.
He said I had to rub this cream all over my vagina, and THANK GOODNESS he wasn't rubbing it into mine! So they will probably check your vagina, but if it's a guy, good luck!
