Are tampons safe to use overnight?!

Question: Are tampons safe to use overnight?
Okay so when that time of the month comes, I use night time pads, but they don't always work & it gets my underwear and pants stained. It's very annoying, so I was wondering if maybe some pads are better then others for overnight? And if not then are tampons okay to use? And if so which brand?

Answers:

No! Tampons are NOT O.K. to use overnight since they can be forgotten/ left in too long and cause infection. I recommend using KOTEX Maxi LONG SUPER. They work well when worn with thong underwear while sleeping. The pad wrapped on that type of pantie will fit closer to your body to catch more leakage that runs under you while in sleep position (on back, etc...) Also they are very absorbent. A pack of 44 is about $5.00 at Target.

Experience with very heavy periods.

The box recommends you not leave a tampon in for more than 8 hours. If your period is too heavy then I'd use a tampon and a night-time pad (in case of leaks) and set an alarm clock for exactly 8 hours later. When the alarm goes off, take the tampon out. If you plan to sleep longer, use another night-time pad. It's not recommended to use 2 tampons in a row for lengthy periods of time.

I have done this on super heavy nights of my period.

I don't know of any pads to suggest all I have ever used since I started my period are tampons. I have always left them in all night and have never had a problem, sometimes I will change them throughout the night but not always. If you do decide to use tampons overnight then be sure to put a clean one in before bed and in the morning when you get up.

I use stayfree maxi pads overnight, work great because they absorb and it doesn't feel gross. Its dry.
Tampons are safe to use as long as u change it first thing when u wake up. You can't forget to do that.

Myself :)

I've always used them overnight and I'm fine. Just change it when you wake up and it will be ok. I use tampax pearl or playlex.
