A Pap Smear is when, during a gynecological exam, the practitioner uses a brush to swab your cervix (the part of your uterus entering the very uppermost part of your vagina), and then sends those cells off to be tested for irregular features. Normal, healthy cervical cells will look that way to a pathologist. Cervical cells that have been infected with human papillomavirus will not look so healthy. Certain high-risk strains of human papillomavirus predispose women to cervical cancer, which can be deadly. Ever since Pap Smears were made standard practice in the US, the rate of cervical cancer diagnosis has dropped. If your doctor catches an HPV infection early, he/she can monitor you and keep you from getting cervical cancer. Note: papillomavirus is not bacteria! It is a virus. High-risk strains are spread by unprotected sexual contact.

You're just 14 and haven't had your period yet, so chances are you don't have HPV! Your period may start soon. Once you have gotten your period, you might want to look into going to the gynecologist for an annual exam. When you are at the gynecologist, he/she will insert a speculum (essentially a tube) into your vagina to look at your vagina and your cervix (the lowermost part of your uterus). During this exam, the gynecologist will take the cell sample for Pap Smear. Some women find this process uncomfortable, and others don't feel a thing during it.

Best of luck!

A par test, or pap smear, is a when they take a small scraping of your cervix and look at the cells under a microscope. They are looking for any abnormalities such as bacteria that can predispose you to cervical cancer.
And as for cramps and mood swings, that happens a lot when your a teenager.

It's a test down there. You lay on a table and put your feet in stirrups. The doctor will put a metal thing in you to keep you open and he will swab it to test it and also feel for any abnormalities. Your period could be coming at any time. No way to tell for sure.

you should go to doctors immediately.
