Would I be ok taking birth control?!

Question: Would I be ok taking birth control?
I am 14 years old. I am NOT sexually active and will not be until I am married. My periods are either really early or late from the expected date. They are so heavy and EXTREMELY painful. I get awful cramps I can barely stand it. When I get my period they are pretty heavy to where I have to change like every hour. I was wondering if I would be ok with birth control and if so, which one?
Also, I want help with telling my mom I want to take birth control.

Answers:

I would say you would be okay with taking birth control because your periods are bad for your age.
The pills would eventually make your periods less heavy and would come every month on the dot. The pain may or may not lessen, but you would still get cramps.
As far as which one, that is up to the doctor. You may have to try different brands and strengths before finding one that works best for you. Go with the low-dose pills because they are safer.

Just tell your mom your periods are bad and the pill can help. About 98% of the girls/women on birth control take it for period problems; not birth control.

Personal experience
I was on the pill for fourteen years (7 years high dose, 7 years low dose) for period problems due to PCOS.

Oral contraceptives can help with period pains and in general tend to make your periods lighter and more regular. There are several methods by which you can take these (pills, implants, injections etc), all of which your doctor can advise you on.
It's great if you can discuss with your mum - simply tell her why you want to take contraceptives. However, if you feel you can't discuss it with her, you can still go and talk to your GP who is required by law to prescribe you birth control and not tell your parents. Doctor-patient confidentiality applies to all!

talk it over with your mom. depending on where you live you might need parental consent to get birth control. at the very least, you would need a doctor to give you a prescription, in which case your parent would probably take you to the doctor and pay for it.
ultimately, this is something you need to talk to with your doctor, who knows your medical history, and your parents.

Birth control can help!
But you better go to the doctor to see which one works best for you.

And about telling your mom.
Just tell her you want to be able to enjoy life during periods.
She will understand that it can be annoying.
Just tell her you want to go to the doctor to see what he can offer you.
And you would like to try the pill.

I am very happy to hear that you ain't sexually active nor you wanna be until you get married. May god bless you and give you the right path to wall.

About the birth control...Honey that is something different. Birth control is taken by those people who are active in sex plus they don't want children.

You are just 14 plus...you don't need those....
Better you go to the gyny... She/he will help you as you have pains and stuff like that...

About telling your mum....just be frank to her...@ 1rst tell her that it pains and stuff...then say you wanna go to the gyny....
our own thoughts are not better than a learned and experienced person...ok!

My brain of 14/15 cm!

I would explain to her how you are feeling. A lot of girls go through this.
I was diagosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrom) when I was 16. SO I went on the pill too.
I started on ortho tricyclan (but of course I am 31 now, so things have changed!)
During my 20's the tricyclan stopped working so I was switched to two different kinds. I had severe reactions to them both. I had rashes, headaches and numbness on one side.
So, I concieved my first daughter after going off them!
I now have endometriosis, and am on the depoprovera shot. It is working ok for the pain.
I would see an OBGYN and go from there.
There are side effects related to the pill so you need to be aware of them too!
Good luck and good for you in being proactive in your care at so young!
