Can my birth control cause me to break out?!

Read the information that came with your pill. Acne is a side effect of many brands of birth control pill, and it is also a major side effect from most IUDs, too. I have Implanon, and I have noticed I am breaking out more than usual.

Unless you specifically asked the doctor to put you on a birth control that will actively clear up your skin, then you will be given one that could have acne as a side effect. Having said that, though, birth control affects each and everyone of us differently, so unless your face completely breaks out(more than one or two pimples which are more than likely due to your body getting used to the hormones more than anything), I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Just keep up a good cleaning regime, and you will be fine.

I'm a 21 year old female. The only birth control pill that cleared my skin up was Yasmin, but for the first couple of months on it, it was touch and go. Diane made my skin really, really bad, and the Implanon is making me break out just enough for two or three pimples on my face every other week(usually once the others have gone away) compared to one or two pimples during my period week.

i am the same, i only ever get spots when im due, and normally exact same space one on my chin, one or 2 on cheek and one inbetween eyebrows, weird, its like they are actually the same spots that hide and come bak but thats it. buts its ok, does happen, mine normally last a day or 2 :)

Yes, BC can cause you to break out. That's dumb that people say that it can't. It happens all the time.
