Julie, it will take ages to feel normal again - i am not going to sugar coat it. it is major surgery. I had a hysterectomy at age 38 and i am extremly fit and have a high pain threshold. I'd say it takes a year to get over it all, physical and emotionally and your hormones have to adjust in that period too. two years later i now do weights and pilates. i feel fabulous and my stomach is not the same as pre-kids, but looking ok. there is a great site: www.hystersisters.com - but don't get caught up in all the negative comments, there are some inspirational ones on there too. good luck.
