do antibiotics cause yeast infections?!

Question: Do antibiotics cause yeast infections?
i am on amoxicilin for a throat/ear infection, and have noticed a white lumpy discharge, along with a slight itch down there. i was not sure if it was just a side affect of the antibiotic, or if it was an infection. if it is an infection, should i wait until i am off of the antibiotic to begin treatment? (i have one more day of antibiotic) Also, should my husband seek treatment as well? since i began the antibiotic we have only had sex once without a condom, but i have heard that if the male also contracts the infection, it will continue to infect me over and over, so he should get treated as well.

Hi... absolutely don't know where you live but in Ireland it's called thrush elsewhere known as Candida. You can buy an over the counter remedy for yourself that will relieve the symptoms, get one for your husband just in case...
It's an awful bloody thing, but the cream really helps.

Hope your both ok.

Yes, they can. Sounds like you have a yeast infection, VERY common when taking antibiotics. Call your OB/GYN and ask for a prescription or try the OTC remedies for a yeast infection.

Yes definitely. If you think you may have one call your doctor or go to local drug store and get meds
