Is it normal for my period to be late after I go off the pill?!

Question: Is it normal for my period to be late after I go off the pill?
I've been on the pill for about two years. Since you need to make a doctor's appointment when your prescription runs out (for a pap) I made one but I couldn't get one until after my pills had run out. So I'm off the pill until the end of February and I plan on starting the pill again after my next period.

The only problem is, my period is late. I'm just wondering if it's normal for a period to be late after going off the pill? Or should I be concerned about pregnancy?

Answers:

It's very common to be screwed up the first month off the pill. Your next period will come when it's darn good and ready and may even be an unusual flow when it arrives. I don't think you need to worry about pregnancy if you've been careful but you might want to test just so you don't fret.
