Hi. I'm sorry about your diagnosis. I recommend you join an early menopause support group. See: www.ipofa.org

I also recommend you read this book: http://www.amazon.com/Premature-Menopaus…

About 5 to 10% of women with early menopause do end up getting pregnant on their own.

IVF does not work for those with premature menopause, because they need eggs to do IVF and the chemicals they give women to produce the large number of eggs that they need for IVF simply do not work on those with premature menopause. However, those with premature menopause are typically great candidates for using egg donors. There's an excellent chance that would work. What would happen is that you would find a donor--either a friend or family member, or an anonymous donor. That donor would undergo all the hormone treatments to produce lots of eggs, while you would have hormone treatments to prepare your uterus to carry a baby. Then when her eggs were collected, they would be fertilized by the sperm of your husband, and then you'd have a couple of eggs implanted in your uterus. You would then continue to take hormones to nourish the pregnancy. During the second trimester, the placenta would take over the production of those hormones and you wouldn't need to take any more hormones. After the birth, you should be able to breastfeed as normal because the pituitary gland controls that, not the ovaries.

In any case: it's important that you know that ovarian hormones play an important role in mood, with estrogen typically elevating mood. So while the diagnosis of early menopause can be very upsetting, negative feelings may be also encouraged by your physical disease. It's very important that you get on hormone replacement now, and do everything you can to better your own health and welfare!

Hi - you have Premature Menopause. It cannot be reversed, I am sorry to advise you.

You absolutely MUST speak to your own Clinician about this, as Premature Menopause puts you at risk from a number of physical problems, due to lack of our protective female hormone, Oestrogen.

Fertility is unlikely for those who have gone through Premature Menopause.

This is from the Net, but please remember it ONLY applies if you have 'Premature Ovarian Failure'.

"Early Menopause and Family Planning

?One of the most devastating issues caused by premature menopause is the fact that it causes infertility. For some time women, were unable to conceive and did not understand why. As medicine has advanced, it was realized that many women in this group have trouble conceiving due to early menopause. Once menopause hits, the reproductive cycle ceases to function in a way that makes the conception of children possible.

Can Premature Menopause Be Reversed?

?Any form of menopause premature or otherwise cannot be reversed. This is an unfortunate fact for many women who have their sights still set on little ones, but after menopause occurs conception is impossible. While premature menopause generally cannot be reversed, the type that is caused by premature ovarian failure may be treated with hormone replacement therapy as a means of increasing fertility.

Conception Options for Premature Ovarian Failure

?According to AmericanPregnancy.org, fertility treatments and donor eggs may serve as feasible options for women who are looking to be mothers despite early menopause caused by premature ovarian failure. However, the chances of successful conception are slight. "Eight percent of women with POF who have conceived were using hormone-replacement therapy (HRT)," states its article on premature ovarian failure. "Even though there is no absolute treatment, HRT has been one aid in helping women achieve pregnancy."

Talking to Your Doctor

?Serious concerns about premature menopause and infertility should be addressed to a medical professional. With the right treatment it may be possible to continue family planning if premature menopause is a concern for you, for now or the future. Certain types of therapy have proven to be effective in allowing women to conceive despite premature ovarian failure, but only your doctor can let you know if such an option is right for you."

Good luck for the future.

I just had to respond to Q, women who are going through early menopause (Premature Ovarian Failure-POF) can conceive with the help up IVF and even IUI using their own eggs. It is not 100% guarantee but I have known a few women with POF have success. It just takes a good clinic and the right medication protocol.
